I don't particularly like Starbucks either, especially the ones here, but what do I do if I don't get a coffee, I would die, and there's a Starbucks right in front of me? Haha. I miss "Noisette" at "Second Cup" in Toronto so much! Tim Horton's is not bad but I don't like to call it coffee. I actually like Japanese UCC coffee very much, especially the Suzuki (or something sounds like that).

There's a cafe near Star Street/ Queensway in Wanchai by the Pacific place office building. They serve Illy. Good coffee.

Thanks Chrissy n Cinna..I've seen that health food cafe a number of times, but I've never been there. I might have to go check it out soon, especially considering I live right by it...

there was a place caled "My coffe" in TST on Ashely street a short walk down the street from Red ant, it was great the coffee was superb, and you could even get your own private cup as a regular.
But comming back from a visit back home for a month i found it closed.. it broke my heart :'(

And if you want to eat the tastiest Chocolate cake in HK, you will find a piece in a Mong kok cafe (forgott the name) its hidden away in a small alley close to the intersection of Tung Choi street, and Dundas street, its quiet hard to spot unless you know what to look for.
But well worth a visit if you are in the area. Coffee is decent but the chocolate cake makes up for any flavs.

Moulin Rouge on O'Brien Street in Wanchai does a wicked double-shot latte for HKD21.
Starbucks and Pac Coffee are crap- the only decent chain was San Fran Coffee and they folded after a few months- tough game to get into i guess.

i used to go to "my coffee" all the time and was sad when it's closed. good news is my coffee loving friend opened up an upstair cafe (kinda of a secret hangouts for friends) and their coffee is even better hehe.

Went to Epoch today

I am a certified coffee junkie. Being from Melbourne in Australia I have high standards in coffee, we have great coffee in Melbourne.

After reading this thread a couple of days ago I went to Epoch today and tried the coffee. Hmm, not bad I guess....but if this is the best coffee in Hong Kong I am now seriously scared. I realise coffee isn't an Asian thing but surely in a city of 7+ million there must be a place that has GREAT coffee?? I gave the Illy coffee at Epoch 6.5/10. Maybe it was the barrista. I had a double shot, and with the latte it needed it. A single shot would have been ridiculously weak.

2 latte macchiatos and 2 bottles of water - HK$100.
