How does it compare to Jubilee?

I think the competition should be a non issue for a while. The market for coffee connoisseur is so wide opened that competition is actually a boon, ie. create more awareness of the good coffee.

BTW, just pick up a Tanzania Peaberry.

True, competition is a good thing for us coffee aficionados. How do you like the Tanzanian?

I just had it this morning.

I had this bean roasted at City+ per Landy's suggestion.

I was very surprised with a very sweet taste to begin with, following by some nice acidity. It's kinda crisp and clean similar to orange juice.

But that seemed to be it. Not much aftertaste from this coffee.

However, it's only 12 hours after it was roasted. To me, coffee tends to develop itself during the first 48 hours after roasting. I'm still waiting to see how it tastes like later in the day or next week.

The bean is quite unique and interesting to try it out. It's not as complex as the CoE's Esperenza though. Had I not have La Esperenza, I would think this Tanzania Peaberry is very good.

Another interesting offering from hkcoffee is this Costa Rica Finca Helsar. You'll find it on Cup of Excellence - Award Winning Gourmet Coffee under Helsar de Zarcero farm. It ranked third for 2007 CoE program for Costa Rica. While I've had Costa Rican coffee that I like and this particular one is so $$$, I like to try this one, maybe just once..

Jay - anybody heard form Nelf about the coffee classes ? Should we give him a call ? I'm not travelling for about 10 days, would really love to do the sessions now if possible.

Talked to Landy about the coffee class last sat while picking up beans. Impression I got was they think it would be very difficult to fit some 5+ ppl in the office and serve coffee after coffee at the same time for hours. Seperating into smaller groups seems a rational approach. Go ahead and call Nelf and see what's up.
Enjoying my Mocca Harra shots

Sounds like I need to try that Finca Helsar too! I found the Tanzanian pretty mild and somewhat similar to the Kenyan I've been drinking.

Goodfood: Nope, haven't heard from him. I sent them a payment for some of the Yemeni Ismaili and haven't heard back from them on that yet either. Normally the coffee just shows up!

If Nelf and the others are thinking that they need a smaller group, I can bow out of the course :P I'm going off to Korea for a few days and am still nursing a sprained ankle anyways. So you could try something for this weekend

All those who went to Landy's the previous weekend: one of you brought a Coffee Mill from them that day. How's the performance ? Is it easy to operate and does it give you the required grinds for both filter and espresso ?
