Thanksgiving Dinner

Hey Americans,

got any plans for thanksgiving?
i know that Al's Diner in Lan Kwai Fong is serving a 3 course meal this thursday for $98. I think 15 of us students are going to take over the place. Any other spots you know of?

$98 is a great deal. Does it include turkey and stuffing? Or is it a turkey sandwich?

Paul, as soon as one says "too old" one has abandoned hope.

Seriously though .. we're not crashing their party. Al's Diners is one of our regular places. They serve a MEAN Hoegarden .. in a huge glass (which has an inbuilt sobriety test...).

In anycase, I'd be the wrong kinda Indian for a T-Day event. *grin*

Fat A's.... ugh! Never liked that place, never will.

Actually - you might check what PJ Murphy's in TST can do for ya as well. Last year a bunch of us got together there for a big ol' turkey dinner. They actually did an amazing job considerin' it was an Irish pub.

Thanksgiving in HK

Am new in HK and on my own for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Have been here long enough to have tried Fat A's and concur with (Sri's?) comment of ugggh.

Haven't heard of the other places, though.

Thought the U.S. consulate might be doing something, but guess not--at least not for those without security clearances.

Jesse,

Found a good set yesterday at a place called the Liberty Grill on Caine Road (right below the escalator.. on Caine Road).

$88 and looks like a 4 or 5 course meal.

Chance,

Drop me an email on shri@geoexpat.com if you're out and about. We might be in Lan Kwai Fong. Not sure if we're doing the Turkey thing.. but I can assure you the company would be good fun.

al's diner

the thanksgiving dinner at al's diner was not that great. we had a cream of asparagus soup with bread to begin. the main course consisted of mashed sweet potatoes which were not that sweet, little circular discs of stuffing that was over dry, a shot glass size cup of cranberry sauce, some carrots and brussel sprouts, and turkey. the pumpkin pie for desert was the best part and then a cup of joe. for $98, it was not very much, but i guess it was a specialty meal so they can charge like that. the rest of the menu at al's is ridiculous expensive. the burgers were at least $80. why is american food so $$$ in HK? thats at least twice what you will pay in the us.
