Got a friend coming to stay in HK for a week ten days and need help with good guest houses on HK Island on weekly basis ..... Thks...

you did not mention a budget, so I would suggest Mirador Mansion, lower floors for easier access. My last booking there was in Septemebr for a couple and it cost $180 a night plus $50 for the key deposit. For a longer stay just hold out till you hear a number that you like-Oh and speaking Cantonese will earn you brownie points.

The YWCA on Bonham Road has rooms which they claim are as low as HK$4500/month. You might want to try there ..

Not sure if your friend will like Mirador Mansion. Got a lot of dodgy people hanging around and a couple of brothels too. Unless he's into that kind of thing, then he'll have a BLAST!

if your pal is of a nervous disposition then perhaps he should avoid honkers altogether, as you would be hard pressed to find a bordello free zone here. There may be one in your building or even next door. The trick is to pretend not to notice anything.

Can't vouch for them since I've never stayed in them. or even noticed them from the street, but the Star Guest House and Lee Gardens Guest House in TST sound pretty good and cheap. I came across them on the Internet the other day. Their website: http://www.starguesthouse.com.hk/
