Electrical appliances OZ to HK

Hi Guys can anyone give advice. Been in HK 6 months now and Husbands job has just be made more perminant. We now have the desicion of sending our stored furniture and electrical appliances across from Australia. Can anyone tell me would our "LG" LCD rear projection TV work ok and last and our "LG" DVD player and HiFi be ok. We also have a fridge freezer, washing machne, tumble dryer etc etc to send over. Would all these things work ok and last. Im only asking as most of the stuff is just under 2 years old. Hope this isnt a silly question. I know the things work ok between UK and OZ, TVs usually only need a small ajustment.
THANKS

I think everything should be OK - you'll just need to change the plugs. Having said that, unless someone else is paying I'm not sure shipping white goods around is cost-justified is it?

When I lived down under I found that not all audio/video components were multi-system compatible. Your tv may be PAL only in which case you might have difficulty receiving some channels piped to you by your building's management company if they do not convert it from NTSC. Your DVD player needs to be region-free (multi-region / zone-free / multi-zone) in order to play DVDs produced for the Hong Kong market as we are region 3 and Oz is 4.
Again, as PDLM says you may be better off selling them to your friends and buying new.

Baron is an unknown quantity at this point.
They will be fine, just need a plug adaptor. But i would try buying there if you plan staying a while.

DVD Regions

DB,
How hard is it to find those multi-region DVD players in HK? I will be coming from US and would like to bring our DVDs. What region is the US and HK? I am thinking that if I walked into a US DVD seller and asked for a multi-region they would look at me like I had 4 heads.
Thanks!

pretty much all DVD players in HK should be region free and multi voltage.

Just ask the folks in the shop,.

Sleuth,
as Katanga said practically every player sold here is region free with a warranty. The U.S. is region 1 and HK is region 3. HK does sell region 1's too so it's not all bad.

hey Kimmi,

your whitegoods will be cool. the voltage in HK is 220V, Oz is 230V, both 50Hz. most electrical appliances have a tolerance level of 220-240V, even aussie appliances. no problems there.

as stated on this thread, all you need is a plug adaptor (priced from $5 each). i brought over a 4 outlet powerboard from Oz and just put one plug adaptor into the wall socket, so all my aussie things go into the power board thingy
