| HK ID card I have been living in the USA for the past 20+ years. I am a US citizen now, but I want to get a Hong Kong ID card. I have a very old HK ID card (when I was very young). Where do I find the form to apply for an adult HK ID card? Where do I start? Any advise will be appreciate it! Thanks! |

| Hk Id I just did the same thing this past summer. Bring with you the old ID card, US passport and your original birth certificate. Go to the Wanchai main Immigration office at 8:45AM. Go to the 2nd Floor to get the application form first then go to the 8th Floor to get a number and submit your application and other info mentioned above. They will interview you first by a clerk and then by the supervisor. This take about 90 minutes total. Once everything is OK they give you a temporary card and you can pick up the new car in 10 working days. Also once you get the temporary card you can apply for the "Home Visit" card from China Travel. This make travel to China a breeze. And not to say the cost of the visas. |

| Do you know if you have the HK ID that allows the Right to Land, are you eligible for the 'Home Visit' card too? I wasn't born here, but should be getting the HK ID 'Right to Land' card through parent coming from HK |

| Quote:
Chinese citizens who are residents in HK/Macao 2) Even though such residents need not be permanent residents, they must be lawfully residing in these territories, and that THEY MUST BE CHINESE CITIZENS. 3) If you have the Right To Land in HK (RTL), this means that you have lost the Right of Abode (ROA) which you previously held. This can only occur if you are a NON-CHINESE citizen (without right of abode/citizneship of another country/territory) and have been absent from HK for over 36 months continuously (unless you can demonstrate you are still "ordinarily residing" in HK-you would need to check this with the Immigration Dept). 4) So- if you have RTL- this means you are NOT a chinese citizen and therefore you cannnot apply for "home visit permit" hope this helps. |
