picture index,database needed - advise?

Simple need.
Difficult to find.

I want
To view jpg thumbnails on a screen.
I want then to have a title underneath.
I want to click on it and it turns into a card index format with the jpg embedded.
I want to be able to search said pictures / titles to give me a thumbnail gallery to satisfy my search.
I want to be able to select individual or multi pictures and be able to set them out in a document to print or attach to an e mail.
I want ( have done that ) to be able to choose selected fields to make up that document.
Too much to ask?

I can do all of this in text / field information on databases I know about. I can make up lots of these types of reports etc when I use my accounts package ( Quickbooks ) BUT - and heres the rub. I can't do it if it revolves around an image.
Quickbooks would be the DB if it enables stock control or quotations to have a pic of the damn thing your quoting - but as of yet it doesn't.

Looked at freeware, shareware et all but no luck yet.

Would appreciate some guidance and if it exsists in the marketplace OR if I can make it up using a program that does not require me to drink Jolt Cola and live on Pot Noodles, whilst spending days doing programming.
FYI
Visual Basic to me means turning the telly on !

Regards
Boris.

I'm assuming that something like Picassa does not work for you?

For Knowitall
Picassa
Good program and if all I wanted to do is work with images it would be my first pic ( sic ).
If this is a free program then why can't Windows, which we pay for, be this good.
Very fast, very efficeint and it looks real smooth. So someone has obviously spent a lot of love on this, just to give it away. Well done Google.
HOWEVER - if it worked as a searchable database type of program, with fields, then it would be perfect. It doesnt do what I need. It works with labels and keywords which is not direct enough for me.
BUT - Its staying on my computer cos its a real cool thing.

For Sefo
Will now check those out.

Regards
Boris

To Sefo
Tried them both and , again they are basically photo albums, allbeit sophisticated and web based .

I am really looking for it the otherway round. A database that can APPEAR as a photo album.

Like a roladex , but not in an analogue way.
I mean EVERY filling cabinet can have files with pics so I figured there has to be a program out there that is able to interogate and arrange this info . BUT with a graphical ( jpg ) front end.

Click on the picture and it opens a database card form with a pic embeded?

Regards
Boris
