Moving to HK from India to work

Hey friends,

I am new to this group and I am glad to be a part of this community. I am 26 years old guy living in Mumbai, India. I am working in a BPO as Customer Support Executive. I have been to HK last year for 14 days. I have a friend in HK so staying was not a problem.

I am looking forward to work in Hong Kong. However, I am not able to find any information on how to apply for jobs in Hong Kong from India. Is it possible to get a working Visa and then visit Hong Kong to find a job? Any information on how to find jobs in HK from India?

Looking forward to get some information from you guys.

Regards,
KP

You can't get a working visa before you have secured a job out here in HK and you'll need a company to sponsor you for your Visa application.

try jobsdb.com.hk for jobs online but you say you work as a customer support executive and that may not work in your favour as theres a lot of locals in very similar roles and they'll get preference for any similar roles that occur.

To be able to get a working visa the company needs to prove to immigration that you have skills and experience not readily available locally and thats only half the battle as a lot of companies won't even consider you for a role unless you're actually physically in HK anyway.

Moving to HK from India to work

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate for the information you have given me which has given me better idea.

Is it possible to open a small shop there by me? Any information regarding that? Any other way to find job there or any hints for me which I should do? Sorry to bother you guys so much.

To be honest, the reason I want to move to HK is because my friend who is staying there is not well and I need to be with my friend there anyhow. I am not expecting more salary either.

KP.

Is it also possible that I can get some visa and come there for a month and find a job once I am there? On visiting visa, I cannot search a job there. Is there any kind or visa using which I can stay there for a month and search job?

You can come in on a tourist visa but obviously you can't work using that visa, you'll then be able to apply for jobs when you're here.

Opening a business will require an investment visa, which will need a several million dollar investment and a solid business plan.

You can visit on a 14 day visa and probably get an extension or two by going across the border. Immigration usually picks up on the visa runs after one or two extensions (depending on what your story to them is ... )

As a customer service person, your chances are pretty slim. Most of the BPO people here are in sales or in senior consulting positions.

Guys, you are so helpful and kind. Thank you so much for your immediate reponses.

Do you mean that I can apply for jobs and give interviews there on 14 days visitors visa? Is it legal to do that or would it be illegal? If it is legal, then I can visit there again and apply jobs and give interviews.

Also, I have good knowledge on computer hardware and troubleshooting.

Any web site where I can find information whether its legal to apply for jobs and give interviews on 14 days visitors visa?

Once again, thanks for your support.

KP.

You can apply for jobs and attend interviews on a tourist visa but you can't actually physically start working for the company until immigration grant you a work permit, But then the problem is that it can take 4-6 weeks for a decision to be made.

Thank you very very much for the information. I guess I will travel there again soon and try to search jobs and if I am lucky enough, I may get a job too.

It is not a problem waiting for 4-6 weeks. Atleast if I get a job, I can stay there with my friend who needs me. Any web site where there is information on visa and immigration for HK?

I am really happy for the response I have received. I had been searching for these information since few weeks. Thank you a bunch.
