| | | Chinese New Year Shopping Hi All,
Is it true that ALL shops close down for 1 or 2 weeks over CNY???
We arive in HK on Wednesday night, does this mean we need to get ALL our shopping done in 2 days?
Does China (macau or Shenzhen) shutdown also? | |

| | | not completely. There will be shops opening during the CNY. Banks and offices will be closed, but retail establishments will remain open during the holidays, and will have the timings posted at or near the entrance of every major store. | |

| | | 1-2 DAYS....the official Chinese New Year Holiday is three days, Sat. Sun and Mon. this year, so expect the stores to be closed on Sunday for sure (New Years Day) and some on Sat. or Mon. also. | |

| | | Hey Woody, can't comment for SZ or Macau but Hong Kong closes most shops for 1 to 1.5 days. Used to be more but the tendency over recent years has been to open up the afternoon of the day after CNY. This year CNY starts on the 29th so some shops will be open on the 30th and all but banks etc will be open on the 31st. | |

| | | Whew, what a relief... we had been told that ALL of HK shuts down.
What about all the night markets (Ladies market, stanley, temple st etc...) and smaller shops are they the same?
Also restaurants are they the same, only closed for a couple of days?
Cheers. | |
