Hello all,

A mainland citizen got married with a HK citizen.
As he got HK ID card (not permanent ID card), can he apply HKSAR passport? So that he can visit other countries with visa-free?

No-

to apply for HKSAR passport-

must be
1) Chinese citzen
2) holder of Hongkong Permanent ID card

No exceptions- this is provided under the Hong Kong Basic Law.

How did he enter HK? If he came on a Mainland passport, he'll have to continue using that. If he came on a One Way Permit, he can get a Document of Identity for Visa Purposes from the Immigration Dept.

That's right... if all HKID holders (non permanent ones included)... that includes like my domestic helpers... they got HKID... but definitely DOES NOT mean they can get the HKSAR passport!

Hi there

I am holding Indian passport & applied for HKSAR passport few months back. ( i am PR - residing in HK from last 12 years )

Immigration dpt Neither approved nor rejected my application.

In the interview officer asked me few question in cantonese...my knowledge of cantonese is limited to few words/ sentances...

Only thing in the interview told me that full interview will be in cantonese so i should know..so should go and learn or rather refresh more and then come back.

But i have heard from few friends that some of them they know who also do not have knowledge of cantonese ( only few words / sentences like me) but have got it...

Can anybody guide me on this as how to approach back to get HKSAR passport
