Intensive Cantonese language courses

I was hoping that someone may be able to give me some advise on language courses.

I am looking for work in HK but planning to come out and do an intensive Cantonese language course for 2-4 wks to stand me in good stead!

I have found two companies that seem 'ok'
* Languages Abroad
* Hong Kong Language Training Centre

Has anyone heard of these or actually used them? Or can you recommend any others?

Thanks

Sally

The most recomended one is apparently the intensive course through Hong Kong University. Try there. Just google them.

I'm currently doing the mandarin course at hkllc. Pretty happy with it, the Cantonese courses should be good as well.

Thanks for advice. It is just nice to have recommendation from people who have actually done the courses.

I might check out the Uni one - I didn't realise that they did any!

I did a two week beginners 1 course at Hong Kong Language Learning Centre (www.hkllc.com) as well. They were good and its very challenging - it moves along quickly, but I have retained quite a bit of it. They challenge you a lot with questions (where they ask a question in Cantonese and you have to reply).. which I think is a good way of learning.

I am signing up again for begineers 2 with them shortly.

Intensive

Intensive courses are always better than evening courses... after all having class 3 to 6 hours a day, and 5 days a week is totally different from having class 3 hours a week...

We always recommend people to have intensive course / regular course as long as their time and budget are okay.

CLC's Summer School (Cantonese / Mandarin) is coming at July. The most intensive package will cover 5 days a week, totally 78 hours in one month. Learn more at www.cuhk.edu.hk/clc.
