Mobile phone sales in HKG?

Are the majority of phones in HKG sold on the High Street (I mean sold face-2-face in a shop)? Is there a mail order or online market?

Also what is the current price for a Motorola ROKR E1 ??

Just curious to see if there is much difference between UK and HKG markets. UK prices are supposedly subsidised by retailers/networks who make their profits on the calls.

Thanks.

Some mobile phones over here are not that much cheaper than u.k for offline models, there are no mail order companies as such that will ship abroad, I assume you are based in u.k?

motorola rokr1 are retailing for about $1900 hk so no idea what they are in u.k.

are you thinking of selling offline phones in u.k then? as I'm thinking of doing it myself.
I already do with psp's.

My business idea was actually to export the phones from the UK into HKG.

I can get boxed unlocked refurbished phones at very good prices in the UK and HKG market looks lucrative although very competitive.

One of the main problems you'll encounter is that locals will want the phones with chinese language support and also you'll have to ensure that its not locked to a specific network.

Getting chinese language software on the phones is expensive if you get it done in u.k, you're looking at 10 to 15 quid for each unit and they pretty much only do it for nokia's.

I'm not sure if its doable to be honest and theres a lot more better phones out here in hk than u.k.
