| | A Swedish guy wants to find a job in HK My boyfriend wants to start a life with me here in HK, he would like to find a job here tho he only graduated high school in Stockholm, Sweden. He speaks very fluent English and would like to work for a short period here (such as 6 months). Can anybody advise and I am already looking for jobs for him online now. Thank you so much! * He would like to work most of the different kind of field but I prefer a simple position in an office*

| | | Sorry Ravie, but I think he is in for a big dissapointment.
For as far as i understood it it is hard these days for employers to get a workpermit for jobopenings where they should be able to get a locel for.
So as long as he doesn't bring any qualifications/skills which are not available here he probably won't find a job.
I know it SUCKS,...but a lot of other countries are even thougher.
The best he probably can do is save up as much money as he can, try to hang out here on that money for as long as he can. This to see how he would like HK and how it is working together with your relationship (living together is different then a long distent relationship !!!!). And very importent find something to do during the days while you are at work, so he can also meet people, won't get bored etc,..because if not that won't have a very good effect on youre relationship !
Try some volunteer work,....though I am sure that some here are going to scream it is illegal on a visitorsvisa,..which it is... But he the boy has to do something :-)
But dispite al this negative news Ravi,....GO FOR IT !
This from a Gweilo who did the same,....Good luck !

Matt, to be honest I have been to Sweden and he has come to HK, he likes HK and I like Sweden. We are just trying to work it out see if he can find a job here instead of me going to Sweden atm. I would like to know more about the example you mentioned - volunteer work? Thank you

| | | For voluntary work you'll still need a permit even if its unpaid. | |
