| | | Remote Control Model Plane Shop? Hello List
My daughter recently received a cheapie from China remote control plane. It has been great fun putting it together, getting it working and then heading down to the old paddy fields all for 10 seconds (or less) of flight before it crashes and the whole process is repeated.
But I have decided I am hooked and was planning on looking into getting a decent remote controlled plane or similar. I know nothing about this hobby but am sure I have seen some suitable shops in Wan Chai or maybe Kowloon. If anyone has any advice or can recommend a good shop and a suitable budget I would be really grateful.
Thanks! | |

| | | My hazy memory tells me that there is a model shop in Windsor House Causeway Bay (opposite IKEA), I think one floor below ToysRus, which seels all sorts of models, including RC model planes. But I could be wrong, so I apologise in advance if so. | |

| | | There are radio control model shops everywhere. Two that spring to mind are first on Pilkem Street which is next to the Bowring Street exit of Jordan MTR station. Second is on Sai Yee Street, Mong Kok/Prince Edward around where Mong Kok Road joins it. | |

| | | I used to take the Minibus from Kennedy Town to Mongkok and somewhere in the middle of that route we would pass a whole street filled with remote control model shops. It was toward MongKok, maybe by Olympia? I never got out but wanted to.
There is also a shop in the mega-mall thing in Shenzen, just by the train station.

| | | Cant remember the name, but in between Ngau Tau Kok and Kwun Tong MTR stations, on the harbour side of Kwun Tong Road, is a big store....can't miss it with the huge models on display outside the building | |

| | | As far as i can see nobody mentioned the Kwong Wah St area in Mong Kok. There are plenty of well-assorted shops. | |

| | | Thanks guys. Found a few shops in Mong Kok around Peace Avenue and Kwong Wah Street. The shop owners were more than helpful, one guy actually walking me from his shop to point me in the direction of another shop that dealt with planes.
Ended up with a helicopter - the guy in the store assuring me that if I was able to get the plane flying I wouldn't be able to land it. All good fun - I think this could be the start of a new hobby.
On a more worrying note - there were a lot of replica gun shops in the area with some very large and realistic looking firearms. I wonder who they cater to.

| | | Hi HKNewBi - I was just poking around looking for info on plane and heli R/C stuff and saw that you made the leap to Heli. So it's been a little while now.....how's it going? My experience is in the plane world and I'm thinking of shifting to the heli world. One of the things I know from my research and flight time with planes is that not all models are created equal. Hope you got a good one as it makes all the difference. | |
