TiVo kind of recorder Hi everyone, what is the best way to record TV programs for watching later? Of course, the old way of VCR is there. But any newer ideas? How about buying a TiVo kind of thing in HK? Or, how about a DVD recorder with a rewritable DVD? Thanks.

DVD recorder with a built-in hard disk drive of atleast 80GB is the way to go. Get a branded model and try to avoid mainland Chinese brands like BBK which I have!

I use a Panasonic and highly recommend it. I did use a mainland unit in the past until one evening there was thick smoke coming out of the vents. Not sure about the brand but this company used Schwatznegger in their ads a few years ago.

Are these still very expensive? Any ideas on price and recommended models - I think Panasonics are quite pricey, right? Thanks.

Panasonics are very good. UK hi-fi magazines rate them as high recommended. They are good value compared to the Sonys. They do have a propensity to offer DVD-RAM which most of us don't use.
