Cheap movers wanted

Just wondering how much we should be paying for movers from HK-KL. We haven't got much, just some laundry baskets, books and personal effects. Got a quote from a professional mover who said we'd have to pay HK12000!! Would it be cheaper to post via sea mail, or has anyone got any contacts for cheaper movers?

There was a group of 4 Pakistani movers we used. Surprisingly they did a good job. Charged $6000 to move the entire contents of our 700 square foot flat. Albeit a short distance (Tai Wai to Sha Tin). I'll see if I can find their contact details for you.

Sorry, but we need to move from Hong Kong to Malaysia and can only afford not more than HK3000. Don't know if such a thing exists, but would welcome any suggestions.

Had a more reasonable quote (in the hundreds, not thousadns, for a small container to send a table and couple of antique boxes to Canada. Wonder if you couldn't ship a crate rather than go through a mover to get a better price.

It sounds interesting, could you give details of how to do this? would we need to use a freight fowarding company?

You're probably better of going with one of the movers like AsianTigers. They're reasonable (not the cheapest) and more importantly have the ability to deliver at the other end.
