Hey Peter...I take my undergrad degree at HKU, which is the most recognized uni, and the only uni on the island itself. All subjects on english etc. I'd say the teaching is average, or a bit above. Many harvard educated lecturers etc. etc. but the students tend to lower the quality and level in all classes as people here aren't as mature when 18-20, not compared to western europeans. Think pink shoelaces and small cute bunnies attached to their mobiles...ok, its maybe more culture than immature ppl, but still...very different, students tend to not analyze or think about stuff, just learn it...the teachers try hard to change the pattern, but it's hard. I'm sure you'll like it though as here's tons and tons of exchange students from all over. Read more on my blog, I write alot about life in uni. http://www.razinhk.com

chinese university

hi Peter,
I'm only here for a semester, and only for a month so far. HOwever so far CUHK is not that stressful academically, although I do hear that business, science etc is more difficult, plus I kind of chose easier classes. I hear that in general HKU is best-regarded, then CUHK, then HKUST. Student life is quite active here, the campus is beautiful, and locals are nice once you start talking to them. Hmmm...well I do like CUHK, although I think what I am looking for is probably different from what youa re looking for, academically speaking. good luck!

I am currently in Hong Kong on a dependants visa. Am I able to study with this visa or do I have to change it to a students visa?

Does anyone have any input re: BAAS at HKU?

Thanks

Thumbs up Hkust

I was graduated from HKUST. This university is quite a GOOD one!

1. Good reputation: it's business school is very famous in Asia, and maybe even in the world. For many rankings, HKUST is always ranked high on the list. One point I have to mention..the Global Studies there is an excellent program!! Many students with foreign backgrounds and good academic results enroll this program!
2. Wonderful study environment: A university in outskirt~greeny environment, fresh air, sea view!! Think you'll like studying in the campus and living in the dormitory there.
3. Exchange program: UST provides a lot of exchange programs which covers from Asia (China, Korea, Thai...) to western countries (US, Canada, Europe...)!!
