Gold Coast - nay up to date info? Hello I would be happy to hear any comments or experiences from anyone living on Gold Coast - good or bad. Good blocks, bad blocks - shops, clubhouses, things to do, things to avoid etc. Cheers Geoff

Cheers - much appreciated. I have asked my relocation agents to find out some availability and get back to me.

I only know about the main GC residences and the shopping mall. I've been inside Aegean Coast as friends live there and it's nice (and cheaper I think, but they don't have the shuttle bus). Rest as per the other thread....

The Aegan Cost does not have the shuttle bus BUT twice in the morning (7.30 adn 8) they arrange a "private shuttle" bus to beat the traffic. but that is only twice a day.

A shuttle bus is not so important to me...... a close bus stop and frequent pickups are more useful I think. The 962 looks fine for me needs, the HKD $20 ish each way isn't a big deal. I phoned BonBon at Sino today, they have a Phase 2 Tower 19 Apartment a (level 11) unit available at 24k/month unfurnished. I'll take a look when I arrive in Hong Kong at the end of Feb...... Bel Air is on hold until then.

you'd probably get a similar sized unit at Aegean Coast for under 15k furnished. I'm currently in a 1100sq ft unit (supposedly) at Aegean Coast and I pay a lot less than 24k. 3br, 2 bathrooms, DH room/storeroom, sea view, fully furnished. In saying that, if it wasn't for the potential (re)arrival of pets from Sydney we'd probably prefer Gold Coast, but you do pay more for an older building there. Why don't you sus out a serviced appartment in GC with Sino (call Bon Bon about it, she has been very helpful to me in the past). they are the same units, fully furnished, service twice a week, short term agreement (1 month or more). This will let you know if you like the area or not, and give you time to sus it out properly yourself. for a unit of 1100sq ft up you pay about 3k more per month to have it serviced and the convenicen of a short term agreement.

Its also worth trying to find out about privately owned units in GC. When I viewed the place, the Sino people said they "did not exist". It was a lie. I have since met people who live in them, with private landlords, who pay quite a bit less rent than to Sino!

Great advice. Will talk to BonBon today about a serviced apartment for 1 month, and will also get my agent onto looking for any privately owned rentals.

Sino did sell a few GC flats out to private owners. One of them being in tower 8, where I am staying at right now. The rent is definitely cheaper than what Sino offers. But I think Sino group has not sold any of the larger flats in the GC residences.
