jobs in banking and working visa

Hello All,

This question might have been repeated several times by now. Still.... I will be glad if I get the openion from you all.
Presently I am working in India, as a fraud risk management consultant for various private/multinational banks operating in India. I am basically a tax consultant by profession and I am in to the business of fraud risk management since last 5 years now. Hongkong being one of the biggest business centers in Asia, I wish to exlpore my knowledge and am really geared up to work there.

My question: Can I find a decent job there in Hongkong in the retail banking industry? Can I get the sponsership from any of the multinational banks? Are there any opportunities in the retail banking sector?

I have already been trying get some job opprotunities via the internet, but to my disappointment havent got any revert from any of the agencies/sites.

I would request you to please guide me as to what should I do to secure a decent job in Hongkong.

Harshad

Ummm .... we know plenty of Indians who get transfered from India to HK with their banks. Why not work on getting transfered?

Retail -- forget about it, unless you're in the NRI divisions ... which are pretty competitive to get into.

Thanks knowitall,

Thanks for your suggestion. I would still like to add..... I am working as a consultant for various banks on the contract basis, which is renewed every month. I am not on the payroll of any of the banks here. If I have to get transferred to Hongkong.... I will have to get the employment here in some of the multinationals first.... which seems time consuming, may be, alteast a couple of years. I really cant wait for so long.

Can anyone here guide me as to how to go ahead with this?

Warm regards,
Harshad

Why retail though? The big 4 accounting firms should be the way to go with your experience and background, PWC are taking on plenty of staff at present.

are you trying to suggest me that I have fair chance in applying for the jobs in accounting field? Is it a kind of a job where they wont find the hongkong local for the suitable post?

warm regards,

The worst they can do is say no, In your words you're basically a tax consultant, You have relevant industry experience so I'd assume you'd be an asset to one of the big 4's and they do take on a lot of non locals for posts.
