helper's allowance

how much $ is appropriate to leave one's helpers for groceries for themselves while we're away for 2 weeks? of course things like rice, noodles, spices, etc are in the home and they know they are welcome to anything they want to eat.

i normally leave $500 in case she needs bread/milk/ veggies while we're gone and she also stocks up the fridge with essentials before we get back.
