How to eat fondue?

Cafe de coral serves fondue and calls it "cheese steamboat". Now, am I suppose to have cooked food and dip into the melted cheese, OR, I am suppose to cook the food in the melted cheese like a steamboat? I am not sure, it looks embarassing to do it the wrong way.

the food that comes with it should be cooked already so just dip it in the cheese.

with cheese, i've only ever had crusty bread...

with oil fondue, you have raw food and cook it in the oil much the same way as you would a chinese hotpot....

with chocolate fondue, you usually serve things like strawberries, grapes, banana, marshmallows etc, so obviously you wouldn't cook those first!

beware of fondue rule #1-

If you drop the food into the fondue pot, you must remove one article of clothing for the remainder of the dinner.

There's another rule about having to kiss all the boys / girls at the table, or whoever you are seated opposite, if you drop the food in the pot that is. Good luck

We tried Cafe de Coral's fondue two weeks ago. It's the cheapest Swiss fondue anywhere on this planet, $39 for the cheese pot, meat and bread, one option including smoked salmon. The cheese pot is not 100% cheese minus the liquer, but it tastes much better for beginners. Since it's not the original Swiss fondue, without the original price, so forget the rules, just enjoy. Ask for a glass of water to add to the pot and a plate to put the cooked food, make sure the cheese pot doesn't dry up with so many ingredients. Leave the lettuce and noodles at the end since the noodles will absorb the last drop of sauce in the pot.

Each pot will come with a leaflet in Chinese teaching you how to do it. My experience tells me the salmon needs to be dipped for l min+. I also cooked the lettuce until it boiled since it was covered with the blood of the raw meat above it. The rest of the food are cooked so need less time. Bon appetit! My daughter still asks me when we'll go for it again.

Just try it this evening. But My friends and I spend most of the time looking around and counting how many ppl ordering this dish. Our conclusion is: Cafe de Coral will earn much less from this dish than other dishes as it take too long to finish.
