Smile photography courses

Been working in HK for nearly a couple of years now. Feel fully settled in and want to start doing sth with my spare time.

Does anybody know of good photography courses or HK based forums? I shoot with a digital nikon and want to get some formal training with lighting and composition in landscapes and portraits.

HK has so many wonderful and vibrant sights, I don't want to waste this opportunity while I'm here.

many thx

I'd say scrap the course and buy this book: Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera

Author is Bryan Peterson. Link below:

yes has anyone tried those courses mentioned by Kristof? I've checked HKU and their 'continuing education' programme. They have short introductory courses of 12 meetings at 2hrs each for $1,180,

HKU, it should be ok?! Barring any negative feedback i'll probably sign up as the course starts on the 3rd Jan!

Cheers Martyn, definately the sought of thing i'm looking for. Something that really speaks about the important techniques to produce higher level results.

I wanted to take that photography course too, but was worried that the content would be too basic. And I don't know if they organise some days out with the group to put in practice.
Let me know if you get some details from them
Actually would like to join a photo club or association but can not find any.

I'm thinking of taking groups out on photo excursions sometime in the new year, as i have photography training. If people are interested just let me know and i'll fill you in on details.

People who want to learn the basics of getting started. I'm interested in getting regular groups together for outings later on, but first up looking at taking people out and showing them how and what they need to look for in taking a good photo. You don't need to have any experience, just a camera.
