cozy serviced apartment

im looking at renting for 1 person a standard apartment at cozy apartments in either cwb or wanchai. the price is 6.5k per month with minimum 1 month stay. im looking to stay for 3 months initially. the price includes electricity, water, internet and the space is 200 sq feet.

has anyone had experience with cozy apartments or know some info about them or their apartments that would be helpful to know?

i have stayed a causeway corner in cwb before and that was nice but this time the budget is around 6k.

I was in your situation a couple of weeks ago with the same kind of budget and was frantically looking for a short stay apartment. I looked at many possibilities from serviced apartments to shared flats on this site, to estate agent rentals. Unless I missed something, you are not going to find many modern, clean, specialised serviced apartments on the HK side for that kind of money. I was looking at the TST, Jordan area and they were going for at least $8k, and they weren't even self-contained units with kitchen. The only serviced apartments in $6k budget with kitchen were in Tin Shui Wai in New Territories, way up north. The link for that is: www.smart-livingplus.com. They were very nice and hotel-like but only had dial-up internet, plus they were fully booked for a month or two. I also looked around some shared flats in Sheung Wan let by expats but they obviously have compromised freedom and privacy.

I ended up going to estate agents and negotiated a short 5 month lease on a standard apartment with a landlord willing to do it. The standard rental contract is 2 years: 1 year fixed plus 2nd year negotiable, but if you ask, the estate agent will negotiate with landlord on your behalf. Commission is 1/2 month rent, plus 2 months deposit. And with your short lease, they'd probably ask for full payment up front. Offer them split payment to give yourself protection against a negligent landlord if anything goes wrong and they don't do anything about it. I used Centaline estate agents, one of the biggest in HK, so I'd recommend them.

As to internet, HKBN does no contract, pay-as-you-go subscriptions: www.ctinets.com

When i was first lookin for a short let i looked at Cozy and a couple of other places on the Island that looked really great value for money. Only problem was that they were fully booked.

Best bet: reserve a room, get a back up plan - then when u get here check it out, if you dont like the room dont take it.

There is a place on Kowloon side that is a hostel/ apartment place that is also cheap. That could be your backup. Cant remember the name but its been mentioned in a lot of the cheap apartment threads. Infact, if you search this site then you will find a wealth of info on cheap digs - though i dont think there is a smart search (auto sort) so youll have to use a key word like 'apartment' 'flat' 'cheap' etc...

I started at Rent a Room in Jordan. It's been panned for some kind of issues on this site, but I had no problems and it was a good start. Clean decent place.

I pay 6500 for a new deco place in Mong Kok 575 sq ft. Furniture from IKEA cost extra, but it's not a bad spot. I have a one year contract, then it turns to month to month.
