Talking Christmas in Sydney

What usually happens in Sydney for Christmas day and Boxing day?
Is everything closed up tight on both days?
Thanks

Been ages since I sepnt x-mas in Sydney but if I rem. correctly shops are mostly all closed Chrsitmas Day and then lots of good sales Boxing day.
I think the racing is big that day, larger restaurants are mostly open by discretion of the owners.
Sunshine and Barby on the beach mate!

I'm going home (Sydney) tomorrow for Christmas

Most shops and restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day but re-open Boxing Day. Some bars and cafes will be open for Christmas, especially in the tourist areas (Manly, Bondi, Coogee, Kings Cross and the City). Overall if you need anything for Christmas, its best to stock up in the days before.

I don't know how you can stand having a bbq turkey/chicken on Christmas day in temperatures over 30 degrees C!
