Food glorious food.

Hi there.

Does anyone know of some cheap eats (<$50HK) around Mid-levels, Soho and Lan Kwai Fong areas?

Cheers.

Mat.

I've had my eyes on the Indian take out place at the end of the escalator on Stanley street. $10-$15 snacks and slightly more expensive ($30ish?) lunch deals.

There is also a filipino / thai take out place in one of the smaller shops on Caine Road ... $20ish boxes and pretty decent according to the spousal unit.

Several more places .... specially for lunch boxes.

The Corner Shop, corner of Elgin St and Staunton has the most amazing chicken tikka sandwiches, curries etc. The owners are Nepalese and make delish cheap food, lots under $50. Just a bit nippy in Winter cause it is outdoors. Hgihly recommended though.

Tried it today, though not their chicken tikka.
Wasn't too impressed with my fare, and the soup was pathetic. Will not recommend this corner except for its quaint location.

There are plenty eateries around Central where you can spend HKD 40+- to enjoy a bite. Here goes:

No. 21 GOUGH STREET G/F, Kau Kee Restaurant. It’s famous for its beef brisket. Don't go during lunch as there will be a long queue.

No. 35 LYNDHURST TERRACE G/F, Tai Cheong Bakery. It's a Chinese bakery enough said.

No. 2 ELGIN STREET, Leaf Dessert. Chinese dessert.

No. 98 WELLINGTON STREET G/F, Tsim Chai Noodle.

No.2 MEE LUN STREET. It's call 勝香園 (sorry I don't think they have a English name). It's an open air restaurant, you will have to eat on the street (Don't worry they have tables and chairs).

No. 60 HOLLYWOOD ROAD G/F, Kung Lee, Chinese herbal drinks

I would suggest you go with a friend who can read and speak canto for the first time round.
