Jeezz.... not Fat Angelos.... there was one in TST, but the food was really below average.

I think we ll go for Pizzaexpress in SOHO, opposite of Cafe Siam. It is said to be good. Their outlet is not too big though, so I guess it makes sense to reserve a table.

There's a nice Italian restaurant on Mosque Junction. Otherwise, Grappas always goes down well.

Theres another italian place not too far from pizza express that is really good... It is in the alley near taco loco on the escalators right after hollywood road... I can't remember the name of it, but there is a (real) italian chef running it and the mushroom dishes are out of this world...

The help is not so, errrmm, experienced though, as I had to uncork my own bottle of wine due to the waitress struggling.

That would be Pane e Vino. Used to be a very regular hangout of mine but haven't been for a 2 or 3 years. Any recent reviews?

Well to answer my own question...

Went there on Friday night and frankly we were rather disappointed. We shared a traditional carpaccio to start, and some of the meat was frozen and the texture was all wrong. For the mains my friend had a mixed seafood pasta, but she rejected the mussels as being not fresh, and I had the lamb rack, which was the most expensive main on the menu (at $288!). It was a disappointingly small portion and served with very little on the side. We then had the chef's selection of desserts (a cheescake, a millefeuille and a crema) which was by far the best bit of the meal. The wine list is exclusively Italian and has very few bottles below $400.

The total for one starter, two mains, the dessert selection and a mid-list bottle of wine was about $1450 including 10% service. For this price I feel that there are better options around.

The restaurant is small and tends to get a lot of smokers - it doesn't offer a non-smoking section, so this may bother you.
