I was just talking about this the other day, but in our case we were thinking of "Americanized" Chinese Food like General's Tso's Chicken and Sesame Chicken. Yes it is nothing like real Chinese food, but sometimes you just a craving for that sweet and sour fried food. Wonder if we can find a place for that kind of "bad but good" food.

Gourmet Kitchen on Staunton St does REAL American Sweet and sour chicken/Pork... Not with the boned peices of grizzle like here, but with deep fried, battered watch-out-arteries-here-comes-the-grease chicken fingers.

cerberus is an unknown quantity at this point.
what is "chinese" food? where from, it's so diverse. if you ask me, HK's mostly lousy for asian cuisine, i mean the dishes here look and taste nothing like their provincial origins, and are probably at least as modified as those in the US or UK. for a better deal head to the Outer Provinces as they were used to be called, that's were food's more amenable.

Pizzas in Italy are incomparable to Pizza Hut's, which I like best. French food in HK is incomparable to that in France in terms of price and sizes, after trying some French restaurants in HK I just give up. Many local Chinese hire part time maids to cook in order to avoid the MSG added food.

It breaks down to what you are used to and what types of tastes you like. Personally, i think the food here isnt anywhere like as nice as in Blighty. Its not even greasy!
I have heard that English people do find the chinese foods is better taste in UK than in HK/China or anywhere, just because the foods have already been adapted into the local taste so called English chinese foods. My personally of course I prefer the HK chinese meal although I am used to the English chinese meal after 15 yrs.

Mind you you are not having the real thing in UK, just like you are having sunday roast without home made gravy or English breakfast without sauages and bacons
