| "The Waterfront" apartments Tsim Sha Tsui Hi, another thread looking for info on areas to live. I'm going to be working at the IFC and am looking for an apartment to live in with my girlfriend. The Waterfront Apartments in Tsim Sha Tsui seem to be good value e.g. 2bd 2 ensuite 1188sqft $25K inc) for a new development and fairly close to the IFC. Can anyone can offer any views on things like: 1. Are the apartments themselves good to live in? They seem fairly new but what about management service etc 2. How far is it to the MTR lines? Could you walk to the Kowloon or Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations? 3. What is it like for shopping/groceries etc? 4. What is it like getting home after hours in a taxi fom HK Island after a night out? All comments appreciated. |

| 1. Don't live in Waterfront so cannot comment; 2. Within three minutes walking distance (covered walkway) to Kowloon MTR station which goes to Hong Kong station where the IFC is. Tung Chung line (where these two stations are) is not a main line and the service is slightly infrequent (peak hour is once every two to four minutes and non peak hours once every ten minutes). About 10 minutes walk to Jordon station via Jordon road but probably unsafe around and after mid-night. 3. Non-existence unless you are big-mac lover. Recently a tiny 7-11 opened inside the station and from that on we no longer have to ride the MTR to get milk and paper... Shopping center is due to open in 2007 and that's like after three delays of 6 months each time.... 4. Shouldn't be a problem at all because it is next to the western harbour crossing (cost $20 for taxi to go I think) and around midnight, it is only about 10 minutes drive from the Central harbour tunnel. The only thing you need to worry is the taxi driver's skill at that time of the night when not much traffic is around the western harbour tunnel... Hope this helps. PS- you probably need to get your bearing right. Waterfront is actually on top of the Kowloon station which is a station in the Tung Chung line. Although in TST, Waterfront is way out from the TST you know. Waterfront is to the west of TST in a new reclaimed land. Tung Chun line does not meet the main line except in Kwun Chung (platforms at different level) and Hong Kong/Central (five minute walk between stations). Hope this helps.
