| | | HELP? My work visa application being rejected.. What can I do? Hi, Guys...
Really glad that I found this website and share my experience here..
I had a HK company sponsoring me to get a hk work visa for me, but HK immigration rejected my application due the reason that they could possibly hire HK people with this position i was applying with that company.. That was a shock for me!! And i felt really depressed for this.
I am a Macau and Australian citizenship holder. And I want to start my career in HK. I still want to have another go after this application rejection.
Do you have any ideas of what kind of companies to apply for jobs which could lead to a higher possibility to get the visa approval from HK immigration? I heard from friends that Big 4 Accounting firms are easier to get the visa for overseas employers, is it true? Or any of you is actually employed in any other companies? Because the company applying for the visa for me was a medium-sized printing company, I reckon that might be harder for small companies to apply visa for me.
Do you have have ideas of what i could do in order to get a job in HK for my non-HK resident status? I am a graduate from Australia and had 2 years experience in Marketing and can speak fluent English and of course Chinese.
This is a fantastic website where makes a communication bridge for all of us to share opinions. I could voice out my frustration in here...
Good luck for all of you in HK

| | | As an Australian Citizen you can get a years working holiday visa that allows you to work normally (without getting permission from the Gov for each job) - though no longer than 3 months at any one place.
This may help you get your foot on the ladder so to speak, perhaps 3months experience, knowledge of current projects etc etc, may aid your application for work visa....

| | | You can work full time, but only for 3months at a time at any one place. You need to exit HK and reenter to validate it - so a day trip to macau or whatever... | |

| | | Sorry to hear you situation. After reading your story, I am feeling more nervous than before now. I am applying for a work visa soon. The company that is sponsoring me is a medium size one and the position that I applied, any local graduate can do the job (marketing). However, the boss was very impress and happy with me that he hired me on the spot. Now I am just waiting for the company's secretary to finish all the documentations necessary to bring to the immigration. I am just an average graduate with 1 years of work experiance. I cant speak chinese/mandarin.
Is there anyone here who has an approved working visa from a local company other than language schools?
Thank you so much for sharing your experiance.

| | | The company that applies, MUST spend some time to make sure that they convey to immigration that you're hired because of these special reasons.
-- Knowledge of some part of the business that is difficult
-- Special skils / degree / training
-- What they have done to recruit local candidates and why they failed
Simply using "english skills" as a reason to hire will not work...
A good cover letter from the senior most person in the company will often do the job.... (from experience).

| | | True KIA, english and chinese skills are useless because HK people can speak both. You can write down that you speak spanish or french or German as it is a bit harder to find HK people who can, and also write down that you're expert in European Market, whatever it is and you spent some years over there to justify it. And you should say that your company wants to make business with Europe and need your experience. That should be enough. I've already applied 3 times using this technique and got the visa 3 times. Don't let your company's secretary do the job on her own. | |

Is it applicant should enclose something like a cover letter when lodging the application for working visa? eg saying why the company can't hire the local for the position? | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 10:03 AM.
