HK Radio

another thread made me think of this: recently i drove a car for a couple of days and realized HK radio does indeed, pardon me PDLM, suck. it was 90% talk and commercials, way more than the average 50%, which unfortunately i've learned to accept and live with.
also, most stations were half-Cantonese/half-PTH, which i found odd and probably confusing to many. it's like those stations back in the old country where it's English and Spanish all mixed into one.

anyway, not enough music. made for lousy driving let me tell you.

50-50? That would surprise me, only a very small part of the population would listen to the PTH broadcasts as entertainment.

that was my impression at least. i may be a bit off, but not by much. and yes, i agree it doesn't make any sense, unless you start figuring in political motives.

RTHK Radio 4 is mostly music.
RTHK Radio 3 is OK if you live within 1 mile of their TWO transmitters - bunch of amateurs!

GOODMAN is on a distinguished road

I am puzzled about your comments. Mind you, you are living in HK, so why is it annoying to you to find radio broadcast in half Cantonese and half in Eng. ? To certain extent, I do agree with you that the radio programming has a lot of room for improvement.

arrrghh!! goodman, read my post again. half cantonese, half PuTongHua, not English. but it is irritating to have broadcasts mix languages like that in an event.

thx for the info PDLM
