What's it like to work in Quarry Bay? Our company is moving from Central to Quarry Bay and I am curious to see if a) anyone works there and b) what is it like to work there if you do? We're not looking forward to it so much, so I am looking for positives.... Cheers!

Quarry Bay has a number of techie companies in Taikoo Place which has helped to raise the level of cafes, restaurants, bars and rents. I am guessing your new office will be there. It's a short walk from the MTR and just off King's Road so should have plenty of buses.

I work in Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay. There are some relatively good restaurants around. There is also a pretty solid meat on a stick stall right beside the building... Every friday night there is an outdoor music show in front of taikoo place. They bring in a band or a dj to play for all the expats getting drunk after work.

Thanks for the replies. Yes we are moving to Taikoo place.... Spot on KIA re ad/PR firms. Canman, Clairabella and I will have to meet you for a drink sometime.... What about things like Cosmo? Are there any healthyish cafes/places and places to shop at lunch within walking distance to Taikoo place? Is the hike on the MTR as bad as we think it is? thanks again..

My work has two offices, one in Taikoo Place and one in Central on Pedder. Most of our office infrastructure is in Taikoo so staff are encouraged to work from here, but we can go to Central if we want to. Most people actually choose to stay at Taikoo Place. The only time I schedule myself into Central is if I need to do some shopping. Not a lot of 'western' retail around here - although there is Taikoo SHing one MTR stop along. The food selection is great. One of my favourites is a little street corner place called Ming Gai - the food is fabulously fresh and unbelievably cheap $18 - $25 for lunch!! There are also pubs and restaurants, you can get salads and healthy lunches at a range of places and some good three course sit down meal packages. There's also Thai, Indian and great dim sum at a huge seafood place inside Taikoo Place. You will not be short on places to eat here. And all within a short walk. Drinking options after work are a bit limited but there are a few options. MTR and minibuses make it easy to get to, and there are always heaps of taxis.

Thanks VegemiteKid. We are in Pedder St now actually... good to hear people choose Taikoo. I might see you at that street stall - so if you see a very tall, blonde aussie girl around give me a shout!
