| i've just signed up to Hong Kong Broadband Network, although my contract has cable thrown in free for 6 months. You don't have to pay a penny for the first 6 months; they bill you in month 7 and it's not like they take your credit card details or anything. I'm actually only staying until May, so if I was so inclined, I won't have to pay a penny and just leave. I guess I'm going to tell them and pay a cancellation fee of $990. But for those staying for less than 6 months in HK who wants free broadband and cable, HKBN will unkowingly oblige you.
HKBN also do a no contract pay-as-you-go service for $188 per month. They make a big thing about being the most stable and fastest network in HK. It's the one with that Chinese hurdles champion. Well, fingers crossed, no problems so far. Most sites seem no faster than what I was used to in UK, but certain downloads, for example software from a major site, are phenomenal. No downtime so far. Without anything to compare to, I'd say HKBN seems a pretty good service. |
