Geez, here's another scenario where this babe will do good:

No flash from eyeglasses or wine glasses when you are trying to get that important wedding toast!

Glad I stoked up some interest. Maybe I'll get some feedback about actual prices before I land in HK, January-ish. But I understand that prices can get better with a larger comparison (read: check prices till you go dizzy, from mall-crawling)
he he he...

if u are really short, yes u will need shift lens.

re no flash off wine glasses - i really do think u a re having us all on, including urself. NO camera can take pictures in low light without flash AND without long exposure. it is NOT possible. even a canon 5D or 1D could not do that with a f/1.4 lens. don't speak rubbish, please! it's offensive to talk rot like that and expect anyone to beleive it!

i dont care how magic you think the sensor is, a camera is limited by the laws of physics. sorry

re prices, you wont get a fantastic deal in HK. you pay maybe 10% less than elsewhere, tops. unless it is an outdated model on sale. you may get a good deal fromshops in TST, but they'd most likely be grey imports (as the guru's on this forum have wisely advised me thanks guys)

As in: Some geezer in TST trying to move his dead stock? Heck, I've got a big shopping list and I want to save time! If you read the reader reviews on the dpreview fujitalk forums, you'll see which situations are good for the F11. They just happen to be my requirements too.

I already have an e300 and you know what it does in low-light. The F11 is probably one of the best kept secrets in cameras because of its niche appeal.

If camera size is a concern AND you need to shoot at ISO 800, the only game in town is the Fuji Finepix F810 or the new F10. On the F810 (and its antecedent, the F710), the flash stays DOWN until you tell it to pop up. A "stowed away" flash helps to reassure museum attendants that you won't take a flash shot accidentally. However, some owners report that the F710/F810's lens is not that sharp at its widest setting, somewhat defeating the point of the wide-angle 32.5mm focal length.

I spent a lot of time pricing my Canon 20D and ended up in the Coxell's booth on the 1st floor of Computer Centre in Wanchai. They were the best value and cheaper than their sister shop just outside the entrance to Wanchai Computer Centre. Since then I have gone back to them to buy with other people as well as price new lenses and CF cards. It also saves having to trudge around Sham Shui Po/Mongkok etc and getting sweaty!

Lammarite

I got the info from the TST ripoff thread, albeit indirectly. Incidentally, I picked up a laptop in Mongkok in 2001, after the sweaty bit. Thanks anyway. Good to know about the triad involvement.

My home-base, I pay about double all your prices.

Hi and Happy New Year all!

In case anyone's interested, this is where one Hong Kong guy got his F11:

And this is how he took a picture of the love of his life. Sheesh, talk about one-track minds!

f11 pics used in national newspaper

For those of you doubting the ability of the f11 to take pics with a high iso and without a tripod check out this article.
