Adding pages is actually a pretty common event, and technically takes 15 minutes at the consulate...however... You can get stuck in a long, long line sometimes just getting in and then, once in, stuck again in the citizens area where people are doing some rather complicated things (emergency passport for a flight in 2 hours, etc). Take a number and fill out the one page form and then wait--but listen too. Sometimes, when things get backed up, they come out from behind the glass and scream "Anyone just adding pages go to this window." They take them all in back and sew in the new pages. You're out in a bit. I've seen people with 3 or 4 additions to their passport (looks like a book). That said, it beats the 6 week turnaround promised if you live in the US. Also be sure, next time you renew, to get the larger passport-48 pages or whatever.

If you are a perm Hong Kong ID holder, and fly to Japan for example....do you get stamped when you return to HK? Also can non Chinese perm residents get a China pass?

The OP has been talking about HK passport all along and never mentioned his race.. If he isnt ABC/ BBC/ CBC etc., i wonder, how could he get "HK PASSPORT" after completing 7 yrs and becoming PR.. Unless he is willing to undergo change of nationality and all that.... |

i dont want a HK passport....i would find it useless... i am a white boy from jersey...but yellow goodness in the heart and mind. i was told by immigration that i can get the perm. id card after 7 years here. with that, i can also apply for china visa id...basically a res id card. thats good for 10 years and allows me to go in and out of hk without need for passport and such. echannel here i come....

>>with that, i can also apply for china visa id...basically a res id card.<<< Not unless you get a local passport and give up your current nationality. All you get is a permanent HK ID card which is good in HK only and lets you use the Echannel on the HK side of the border. >>Adding pages is actually a pretty common event, and technically takes 15 minutes at the consulate...however...<< I have had mine done on several occasions over the past 18 years in HK and have never had to wait longer than 10-15 minutes. They do take longer for persons of South Asian origin these days. Last edited by JaredHK; 13-12-2005 at 02:39 PM.
