RAM for Thinkpad

Does anyone know how much RAM costs for Thinkpads? I am looking specifically for 1GB or 2GB. Suggestions on where there is best price/quality would be appreciated.

Also I have 256MB plus another 256MB installed - I was told that if I upgraded RAM I could not use the second 256MB since there is only 1 slot reachable by the user. Does this sound right?

Yeah. Sounds right.

I have found the prices here to be pretty accurate.

If you have 256MB now, and you add another 256MB, you will have 512MB total - all of it usable. Not sure what you mean by "the second 256MB not being usable".

The only thing to note is that if you ever want to go beyond 512MB in the future, the 256 stick you added will need to be replaced completely since there is only one user-accessible slot.

Which model of Thinkpad do you have?
