Wifi Question!

How do I put a password for my wifi connection? Right now, everyone can just connect!!! Heck no am I that kind on my internet connection!!! heheheh.

D-Link wifi router.

You need to login and setup the security to support WEP or WPA.

Look for either of those two terms in your manual or google it.

Essentially that generates a key that you will need to enter into your client (Windows) settings for the WiFi connection.

Another method would be to set up a MAC address "white list" - only allowing certain pieces of hardware to connect to your network.

Set up an authorised MAC list - it's the most efficient way of controlling access to your wireless network.

At bare minimum, I would use a combination of WEP encryption, MAC filter list, and disabling broadcast of your SSID.

Actually, let them login and then access their files, if they are dumb enough to have sharing enabled.
