Well i haven't tried any of the latest tablet PC's.
The idea is great though, and yes you can save the work.
BUT the 3 models i tried always seemed a bit slow and unresponsive when drawing fast strokes.
And i cant really remember if pressure sensitivity was supported or not.
But probably there has been some updates since i tried them about 3years ago.
Check it out get some personal feel if they are suitable for you and the way you draw/sketch.

Oh and a Wacom on the plane wouldn't be a hit I'm sure.
To much trouble balancing the notebook AND the tablet in your lap or what ever.
A tablet pc would probably be a better choise.

according to the website, both can detect pressure...so one just detects better than the other?

Empty:
Correct the higher level it can detect the more sensitive it is.
Giving you greater control over color tone with pressure.

Another thing you should pay attention to is DPI.
The higher the better, but if this is your first tablet the Graphire should be enough.

But stay away from brands like Genius and trust and other low brands at the responsiveness of the pen is not very good.
But since we are still on the topic of tablets.
I know wacom made a wireless Graphire a few years back, anyone seen those around here in HK, went looking in 298 but they didn't even believe me that they ever mad such a model. Price at release date back home was 2200HKD roughly.
Would love to find one here.

And to repeat myself again.
Try before you buy, don't go buy the biggest you can find try which tablet size is comfortable for you, and remember you might be spending a few hours with it and wide movements in the long run will hurt after a while.

Of course you can calibrate the usable area of the tablet but thats usually annoying.
Buying a smaller tablet is better if you ask me.
