Question command chinese language

Hi all,

I would like to hear your opinion regarding the following:

Me and my brothers have been thinking for years to go to Hong Kong and to work there. basically immigrating. (we all have a H K. PIC and a banking or marketing working experience background)

However, many job vacancies state as requirement good command of english and chinese, both spoken and written.
I'm fluent in english, spoken and written and able to speak cantonese fluently. (unfortunately, no mandarin)
However, as for reading or writing cantonese, I only reached about primary school level. Able to read, say a comic book or to read the menu in a restaurant.

I wonder if this willl be a huge problem if I go job hunting in H.K.

Any answers from all of you is greatly appreciated.

Valencia1 will become famous soon enough
Good command of Chinese is important if you're considered as a local, but no if you're an expat. I think the ads you saw are for locals. In my opinion, it's easier to get a job before you come to HK, since most local employers are unwilling to apply for a working visa for foreigners. Good luck!
