Which school to apply for?

I am looking for some advice as to a forward thinking and progressive school/system to apply for. I have been wanting to move to H.K for some time now and my contract in Singapore will be up in June. Currently I am a Junior School Principal in Singapore but am finding getting even an interview with the ESF impossible. Can anyone give me some ideas about other schools. I don't want to go to the Aussie School as I am Aussie and want to experience something a bit different.
Thankyou for your help.

Why don't you try coming under the NET scheme (Native English-Speaking Teachers). The pay is good, and practically everything is covered for. It's teaching Chinese school students English, and you are required to have a particular degree. It's a good foundation to get into an ESF school. I have some teachers currently teaching at my school (KGV-part of ESF) who formerly taught as a NET teacher. Someone I know, from Malaysia, is still teaching as a NET teacher.

I disagree with the previous poster, I think as an experienced teacher, you risk being very unhappy with the NET system.

Many schools have trouble using NET teachers appropriately and the local system could hardly be called progressive. On top of that, you'd have very little opportunities for advancement. On the positive side, it gets you a foot in the door and it's decent pay.

As to schools to apply, I'd recommend Renaissance(under ESF) Canadian International School, Chinese International School, HKIS and German Swiss) You'll have better luck if you have IB experience and those schools usually attend fairs so you'd have to plan for that.

There are other good smaller schools that pay a bit less but are also a foot in the door.

Ahem! The post you both replied to is almost 3 YEARS old.

KIA,

PLEASE can we have a warning in the reply process when someone replies to a post where the post or preceding reply was more than, say, 6 months ago. (Not saying it shouldn't happen, just that it shouldn't happen accidentally.)
