Owning a gun in hong kong?

Hey everyone,

I was just talking to someone from
http://www.hkra-shooting.org/
the Hong kong rifle association about it.

I'm a long time NRA member and an avid gun owner and collector, are any of you members of the HKRA? Just wanted to know if their $35,000 fee was worth it.

if you are crazy about guns, the fee would be acceptable.
otherwise, it is pricey

cerberus is an unknown quantity at this point.
go for it dude, sounds like you love guns enough to justify the cost plus you'll be doing HK's individual liberties a major favor.

Dude - Are you sure about the fees; the website looks pretty spartan for an active community.

What's the local law on assault rifles & concealed weapons?

Not in Hong Kong. Leave it at the door before you leave the US.

I know someone who's in such gun club.
you can own a pistol and keep it in your own house, too (but in a safe)
**however, you cannot own any bullets!! (or ammo)
they must be kept in the club only.

I have been advised by a policeman that owning a gun or even an air pistol is not recommended. The laws here are very anti-gun and you never know when you might be implicated. Simple cases of mistaken identity to dodgy neighbours or reports of a sniper firing an air pistol could result in your home being searched.

fired my first handgun in hong kong at 14, it was a high end colt 1911 style pistol converted to 9mm. the laws here are very strict. you CANNOT keep a handgun at home unless you have a need, i.e., transporting large volumes of cash or jewellery. shotguns and rifles are easier but you cannot have ammunition at home. this information might well be outdated though, that was the law 10 years ago :P haven't looked into it recently.

tvr, if you wanna look into ranges n stuff, let me know, i don't mind going to take a look.
