English Subtitles in HK Cinemas

Hi,

sorry, I'm not an expat but just someone coming to stay for a bit in HK over Christmas. I'm quite a fan of HK cinema and there is a particular film I'm dying to see, Sha Po Lang.

I had a quick look at the websites of various HK cinema chains but couldn't find an answer so thought I'd try here. Does anyone know of cinemas in HK that would show english subtitles with Chinese movies. I'd love to see this film and I know my girlfriend wont translate it on the fly so my only option is to wait for a dvd release with english subs or find a cinema showing it with subs.

Many thanks in advance.

wow, thanks for the quick reply.

I did check their site but I guess I didn't delve far enough.

Whilst I'm here, I'll be there over Christmas are there any recommendations for things I must see. Already have a trip up to the Po Lin on Lantau planned, a trip round the bay in a junk, tram up the peak and a walk back down, lots of shopping (mongkok and night markets) and a few rides on the Star Ferry. Only have 4 full days before we move on to Nanjing (then Shanghai, Hangzhou and finally Beijing).

Cheers

I havent seen a HK film in a while, but didnt they used to have the not-always-accurate English and Chinese subtitles on the bottom of the screen? Have they done away with these?

cerberus is an unknown quantity at this point.
90% of local venues have Eng s/t's and their quality is quite good, much improved compared to the paltry efforts from a few years back. but don't get going on that, whenpigsfly may come to the scolding.

I don't think Sha Po Lang will still be in the cinema at Christmas (infact, I think it's already been dropped from many cinemas...correct me if i'm wrong). I've seen it though a few weeks back and was a good watch. I can confirm It has english subs along with all the other Hong Kong films. Only some Jap or Korean film don't have the eng subs in the cinema. Thats where DVD's come in handy.
