I got a bit of a headache. My current (and soon to be fired) property agent at hkhomes is refusing to show me flats listed by various other real estate agencies...only the ones her agency lists. I'm quite sure she CAN show them, but she makes excuses & most times ignores my requests to see any. I asked the woman at least three times if she was able to show me properties listed by other agents...no response from her on that, so I pretty much take that as a yes. The latest request to view another agents property ended with her saying "I contacted the other agent & they quickly leased that flat last month". Utter B.S! Come to find out today, that the flat IS still available (I contacted the agency myself). Obviously she does'nt want to share her commission...can't say I blame her, but I also find it completely unacceptable to lie to my face & ignore my requests. I just wanna have ONE agent, not deal with 5-6 of them. Otherwise I'll be looking at flats 24/7! No thanks. But, I need an agent willing to look at ANY and ALL property I want to see..no matter whether it's listed on their site or another agents. Help me!!!! Any suggestions where to find a decent honest agent like that? (if there is such a thing)

Just go to another agency, most agencies are fairly flexible, you just got yourself a typical HK one. I found people who don't respond to questions and ignore you, instead of giving a yes/no, are usually not only unreliable but show various signs of disrespect. Don't let ANYONE disrespect you especially if you're paying their salary. Even tho you're leaving this place, you should file a complaint with the boss and HK gov. consumer protection agency.

Find more agents, compare their prices, cross-examine their words, and see how "honest" they are. There is only luck, don't expect honesty. You'll always find some agents charge lower commissions.

I'd say, go with Centaline or Century 21. They have some service standards. I sort of cringe when people here start recommending hkhomes.. they're small and don't have the database. Between Centa and Century 21 you'll see that they have about 80-90% of the listings in the market. Start at gohome.com.hk, see which agent has the maximum listings in your area and work with them.

Thanks guys. Tvrlover...you're absolutely on the mark about the disrespecting thing. KIA, I did'nt know hkhomes was considered small...they have soooo many listings, I figured they were one of the bigger agencies. hmm But unlike Century21, hkhomes has a website with pics of the flats. No wasting time with an agent showing me overpriced or run down flats...I can weed out what I want to view in the comfort of my home before hand. I did use a Century21 agent here on my block....but in the end (i won't go into details) it did'nt work out.
