Hi gang we are a group of seven aged in our thirty's two girls five guys we arrive next week for seven nights we have tickets to shatin for the races.We are looking for some great pubs and bars seeing we will be out most nights something with a good mixed crowd and music staying kowloon,what are dress codes for these pubs & bars.Been told not to take much clothes over buy heaps over there, thanks for any help.

Dont worry too much about dress codes as most of the rest of us Aussies don't!! A pair of chinos and a shirt without holes will do the trick - maybe leave the thongs at home though.

I am a big fan of Wanchai as there are plenty of restaurants there and music at Coyote and Dusk til Dawn, Carnegies (you MUST dance on the bar at least once!) etc. Take the MTR (subway) from Kowloon over to Admiralty (HK Island side) then transfer to Island Line and get off at Wanchai - take the Lockhart Road station exit to the street, turn left and you are right there - there is a good Aussie bar (Kangaroo Downunder Bar & Restaurant) a block and half from the station exit. Plenty of English style pubs plus Delaneys in the district. Wanchai is also the centre of the girlie bar district so be careful!!

Try Stauton Street in Mid Levels and Lan Kwai Fong in Central - both on the Island
