I have studied in 2 different universities, one is better then the other. in a good U you can learn a lot more; you simply have more chances to meet with cooler/ various people...and people elsewhere think that you are cooler becoz you are from a better U.

People like brand, it's the fact... Bosses like to use GPA and UNI name to ranks CVs

If you still have chance to go to a better UNI..just do it...buy this experience, add that name on your CV ! I think not everyone are lucky enough to get referrals or headhunts

Personally (being Cantab. myself) I reckon it made a difference to my first job after graduating, where my employer was specifically looking for "top flight" as evidenced in part at least by where they got their degrees. But then not again until my most recent job change (at the age of 42) where one of the interviewers (also Cantab.) seemed to make quite a fuss about it. Having said that, if he and I had both been, say, graduates of Philosophy at the University of Wooloomooloo it might well have had the same effect.

Now both sides of the issue have also been argued...

I appreciate all these different perspectives that help me draw a bigger picture regarding this issue and I would like to ask some more questions now:

- How about the fields of media/public relations/communication/advertising? Does it matter to employers where I study?

- What impression do you have for University of South Australia's graduates (dont worry, spill your guts..)?

- How do you get referrals or headhunts?

Many thanks.

Having a brand uni open doors, but you still need to ace the interview.
