Also you might want to check out this new product called SLINGBOX. I haven't tried it, but I have several friends who have and say it's great.

that thing looks pretty cool, but you'd have to have a TV somewhere in North American continuously on while you're living here wouldn't you? Not really useful for a person living here (good for a traveller tho)

it does not have to be "on" all the time, but you do need it conected to the cable and internet at the same time, it has no effect on the other person in Canada. Also have a look at www.cricketon.tv i have not tried it but saw it on another geoexpat NHL forum. not sure watching a canuck game is worth the 6 bucks thou anyone else who has tried cricketon.tv let us know.

| i vote for slingbox! its fantastic, sooo easy to set up (your friends or family can set the equiptment up in canada and you can download all you need to watch from the net). i just finished watching the newest episode of Lost this morning. even better, is to hook it up to a pvr in canada so you can record all your favorite shows and watch them at your convenience. we've even hooked the laptop up to our tv to watch. highly recommended! | no, this isn't true. my dad has the slingbox attached to an extra cable receiver and it works fine. no need to even attach it to a tv. i can control the power on the receiver from here. |

Yhe Slingbox is connected in Canada to cable TV (or Expressvu etc) and also connected to a router. You install the software on your computer in HK, or anywhere, and watch TV (with control over changing channels). If you have a PVR, VCR etc, you can also control that remotely.

global, you connect to it via the internet. its pretty darn cool. one thing i would definately recommend is getting the fastest possible speed internet you can get over here, and in canada. my dad is with cogeco in canada and he just upped it from the 'light' to the next level up and its great. there is one professional speed above that which is a bit pricey, but this one is just fine.
