BT hardly uses any cpu power. And yes it can still affect the game - perhaps a neglible amount when it's writing to the drive.

What do you want it for? Gaming? Just surfing webpages/checking e-mail?

Off topic

This is completely off topic except it does have to do with games and computers in HK

Anyone know a way my girlfriend and I can use the same internet connection (in the same apartment) to play Everquest2 (with seperate accounts) at the same time? From what I've heard such behaviour is blocked to prevent abuse from people who use bots. I'm not interested in using a bot, but my girlfriend and I do like to play together and she certainly isn't a bot. Anyone have experience with this sorta thing?

Glad to hear it.

In theory it can't be done. Your ISP will assign you a single tcp/ip address for your connection. No matter what you do at your end you can't get around that limitation. On line games identify you as unique by your tcp/ip address and so you need to be on a separate connection to "play together".

Can you buy another IP address here? I know in the States that if you don't want to have a dynamic IP, you can j ust purchase a block of IPs and then setup each computer to run specifically from that one.

That is how we always go around playing games on seperate accounts but in the same place.

Laughing_Monkey will become famous soon enough
If you have a router each pc has a seperate IP address but they are routed through the router which has its own IP address so there is only one IP address connecting to the net and then the data packets are distributed by the router to the IP address of the computer that requested it from it...

I'm sure if you find a techy forum (www.devlib.org maybe) they will be able to tell you how to fix it so that the router doesnt use its own IP address for both computers.

I think we're off-topic but I notice that the OP hasn't made any further postings.
