Best Restaurants in Hong Kong

We're doing a feature on the best restaurants in Hong Kong.

Given the following criteria, what would you recommend?

1) Should be friendly and easy to get a table. No posh / snotty places that require you to book 7 weeks in advance.

2) Should be affordable. If you really do like a place, you want to go there often... and you want others to go there and enjoy it. So lets keep the average cost at $500 / person, including a bottle of wine or reasonable amounts of alcohol.

3) Should appeal to your ethnicity / nationality. i.e. Indians will probably recommend different Indian restaurants than say... aussies would.

Categories we're looking for:

Fairly myopic actually as the only other Indian I've had in Hong Kong is Spicy Island on Lamma or the Deli Lamma an, errr, Lamma. While both are good, especially the Dal Makhani at the latter, I didn't want to keep voting for Lamma places! I will try JoJo's Mess when the new one opens on Fenwick Do/Lockhart Do.

Oh, I forgot, I have also been to Khan Khazana but the less said about that the better. When I'm next in TST I will try some of the places in Chungking mansions as I beleive that the best indian food is often the street level food as traditional Indian dishes rarely retail for HKD85! The best Indian food I had in Dubai or Oman was always the cheaper end of the scale.

Educate me KIA!

After about 3 dimsum sessions a year for the last 6 years I have finally decided that enough is enough. I always feel crap for hours after eating it and friends I have been with have been quite ill (generally we've been at the Maxim's at City Hall, so we're not talking downmarket here). I reckon it's a combination of MSG and huge amounts of oil, but either way I've given up on it now.
