i have dim sum every day.... most of the time i make it myself, sometimes i go out to the local shop on my way to work though. as for the local places here...hmmmm i don't know enough yet ive only been here for 2 weeks....so im afraid i dont know any names yet...i know how to walk to a few but when i lived in northern china i ate at mostly the local hole in the walls.... literally a hole in a collapsed building. I found the food to be amazingly good. The local flavors mixed with traditional concepts... you just need to look past the dirty looking kitchen and give chance for the flavors....its quite good but i ask cause all i see and hear on this site are the more expensive name brand restaurants, and bars... i never hear of the local joints

As a vegetarian there is not much call for me to eat there. Though I do eat fish I'm not too keen on what goes in them. I also have an aversion to sitting round tables where people drop bones and gristle from their mouths and talk very loud around me- I go to eat to relax and enjoy myself. I also have very few friends who have particularly enjoyed their dim-sum experience. I quite enjoy num-cha (sp?) at lunch time though. |

I've found Agave to be more of a bar than a restaurant. Besides... if its too crowded all the time, its out of my list.

As best American, I vote Hard Rock Cafe over Dan Ryan's; it's cheaper, gives free refills on soft drinks and makes better burgers in my opinion. For Sunday brunches, I like Quarterdeck Club. Jaspa's is awesome when I can't make up my mind what I want to eat but am really hungry... great variery and portions are sizable!

I've not been here that long but have had great food in the following categories already: Best Indian Restaurant - Bombay Dreams Best Dim Sum - Dim Sum (Happy Valley) and Water Margin (Times Sq) Best Thai Restaurant - Wyndham Thai Best Pizza - Pizza Express Rest of the Best: Olive (Greek), Soho Spice (Vietnamese), Thai Basil (Pacific Place) What about a Wan Chai category!? The Star Street area alone should feature - we've tried: - CineCitta: good but quite pricey - Sweets: innovative, cheap and tasty (1st half of menu is puds!) - Olala: good value french food (esp. moules) and pricey wine - and of course Pizza Express.
