Melbourne To Hong Kong

Hi All,

I am currently in the process of moving from Melbourne to Hong Kong in April06.

I would be grateful for any tips/advice i can gather before i make my more. Locations for living and what i can expect to pay for rent are top priorities at this stage.

appreciate any advice

Cheers

Baron is an unknown quantity at this point.
You can get plenty of ideas on where to live if you look through other threads on the subject. It really comes down to what type of lifestyle you live.

if you are on your own/in a couple a serviced apartment is a good start so you can have some time to get to know where you want to live. they range from 8000 (basic but clean studio) to 15-20,000 (seems the general mid range price for 1 bedroom) to $$$$$$$$ for splendor!
Buy the book called - Living and Working in Hong Kong - very handy!

WEll you should be cool with that allowance.
The resource on here was the most usuful for finding accomodation, but I can also pm you a couple of agents who were good.
Happy Valley is nice, and handy if you are going to play sport. although I think it is a bit far out to live - all depends where your office is. With you allowance you should be able to get a pretty nice place on old peak road which is a great spot.
