Where to celebrate New Year's Eve in HK?

Does anyone know how the calendar year end is celebrated in HK? Are there big parties on December 31 like in Europe, Australia or North America? Or is it not so special an event given that the Chinese New Year follows only a few weeks later?

NYE here isn't as big as in other 'Western' countries, but its still a good party night on the 31st. Look out for a lot of restaurants doing themed nights (Viceroy does a good one for example) over the coming weeks. Otherwise LKF / Wanchai will be full of people too.

Regarding crowded areas, after the 1993 New Year's Eve stampede (20 dead) in LKF, police has enforced crowd control measures during festivities.

I don't think there are too many NYE raves on NYE here unfortunately Angie. Do know that Ferry Corsten and Marco V will be playing at HITEC on Christmas Eve though...

I think there are more celebrations for new year in HK than in European countries (well I am talking about England at least), apart from clubs still open on new year eve, everything is shut, nothing open at all on new year day, not even clubs (so called disco). bascially you can only have house party with family on new year...... I think you have got a lot more to do in HK for new year than over here.
